Yeo Valley Canteen
We spent a lovely evening with friends on Friday at the Yeo Valley canteen. The food was fantastic: Mackeral croquette for starter, rib of beef with chunky chips for the main course (really can’t tell you just how good this was) and tonka bean creme brulee with melt in the mouth shortbread biscuit for dessert.
The decor is good fun, with lights made from sieves and bowler hats; clouds on the ceiling, and loved the sign to the ladies……
Only wish we could recommend to our guests staying at The White House but with bookings taken 3 months in advance, this would take a lot of organisation!
If you get a chance The White House highly recommends…..
Carnival
What a fantastic weekend we had here at The White House. It was Carnival time and we had a full house of both guests and family. All of our guests were fantastic as always and everyone had lots to chat about at the breakfast table.
For once the weather was clear for the event and the beauty of the starlit sky was enjoyed by everyone almost as much as the carnival itself.
The house seemed so quiet once everyone left, but we are already ready to go again with new guests arriving this evening and two of our guests have already booked again with us for next year…..
If you haven’t yet had an opportunity to see the carnival, take a look on the Wells Tourism website – it really is fantastic and worth a look.
Rainbow
So we never forget
Fireworks
We thought it might be fun this year to have a BBQ and our own fireworks display. With six teenagers in the house we had a really good time. Eddie and his pal James took photographs, including this fantastic one of Lucy and her pal Emilia, and the highlight of the evening (well for everyone but me) was when I singed all of my hair when trying to light the BBQ – good job I had a trip to the hairdresser planned for the next day…..
Christmas Markets
Before you all begin to moan at me – let me make clear that I’m not one for starting Christmas this early!
But walking Bob this morning I noticed a couple of dinky little sign posts just at the village boundary advertising an Artisan Christmas Market at the Bishops Palace and just couldn’t resist a quick peek at their website…………
It looks fantastic…..

A short update
Not much to report here in Dulcote at the moment. Things are very quiet following the clocks going back and our guests are now primarily with us at the weekends only.
This morning is foggy and cool, and as the children are still on holiday, we’re looking forward to a day inside, with jigsaws and films. Bliss………………..
Our newly renovated Wells Suite
We re-opened our Wells Suite at the weekend and our first guests have given us superb reviews. With underfloor heating in the new bathroom; the wet room design replaced by a lovely shower area; and the sofa bed in the sitting room replaced by two gorgeous Laura Ashley chairs, it not only looks very great but is even more comfortable.
Take a look at the photographs and let us now what you think.
